Unbeaten Austin Bashi Humble In Victory After XFC 44

DESTIN, FLORIDA, June 2, 2021 – Austin Bashi came to Iowa on a mission — improve to 3-0 at XFC 44.

Despite Bashi’s opponent, Emanuel Pugh, coming in overweight, Bashi stuck to his guns and put on the best performance of his career against the toughest opponent he’s met.

“Emanuel was definitely the biggest guy I’ve fought, I could definitely feel that in the Hexagon, but I didn’t hesitate at all to accept the fight when he came in overweight,” Bashi says.

“He’s really big, very explosive and strong, but we just stuck to the game plan, which was to try to dominate him in every aspect of the fight and use my experience to my advantage.”

That worked for Bashi, as the 19-year-old Michigan fighter climbed to 3-0 in his blossoming career with a smothering unanimous decision victory over Pugh.

Bashi is humble in victory, calling his dominant performance “decent.”

“Looking back, there are always a million ways you can improve and do better,” he says. “I’m always happy to get the win, and I’m excited to build on my performance and get the stoppage next time.”

Bashi is now 3-0 as a professional fighter, with all of those victories coming under the XFC banner since November. The undefeated bantamweight is rapidly establishing himself as a face of the franchise with XFC.

“I made my pro debut in the middle of the pandemic. Before the XFC came calling, my career was at a standstill, because nothing was going on locally and no national or international promotions were willing to give me an opportunity,” he says.

“I couldn’t be more happy to be with XFC,” he adds. “It’s crazy to think about how far we’ve come in such a short amount of time.”
